We have a range of job roles available across the EMERGE Group, from drivers and depot operatives in EMERGE Recycling and FareShare Greater Manchester to woodworking roles in Touch Wood.

Many of our staff work flexibly in different ways,  including part-time.  Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need. We can’t promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise not to judge you for asking.

Employability Administrator

£12.60/hour, £9,828 per year

15 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8am to 4pm)

Our Give & Gain employability programme is aimed at enabling people to develop the skills, confidence, and aspirations needed for job success. We support people from all backgrounds who face barriers to employment and whose skills often go unused or undiscovered.

 Working with the Volunteering team and other key staff, this role assists in promoting the benefits and opportunities of the Give & Gain Programme at EMERGE.   You will help us recruit additional volunteers from the local community and beyond by identifying and contacting new networks and operational partners.  You’ll be an experienced administrator, ideally with experience in the voluntary sector.  Your strong data management skills will ensure we can accurately report to funders on our outreach and track the volunteers who participate in the programme.   An understanding of handling confidential data, meeting targets and deadlines, and experience in recruitment are key skills for this role. 

 The role is based onsite at our Head Office on New Smithfield Market.  We are happy to discuss your preferred working days.

Volunteer Support Assistant (Surplus with Purpose) 

£12.60/hour, £9,828 per year

FareShare’s pioneering Surplus with Purpose scheme works with businesses across the fresh produce sector to help cover the extra costs of redistributing their unsold food to people who need it and preparing unfinished surplus food for redistribution.  FareShare will redistribute thousands of tonnes of surplus fresh fruit and vegetables nationally to charities and community organisations that need it, saving it from going to waste.

 Working with the volunteer management team and other key personnel, this role will be involved in attracting and supporting the retention of new volunteers for Surplus with Purpose-related work.  You will also promote the benefits and opportunities of volunteering at EMERGE to the wider community.   You’ll be a strong communicator, happy to jump on the phone or take the lead at in-person recruitment events.  You’ll have experience in the community or voluntary sector and strong data management skills to ensure we can accurately report to funders on our outreach and track the volunteers who participate in the programme.   An understanding of handling confidential data, meeting targets and deadlines, and experience in recruitment are key skills for this role.

Waste Driver Collector

EMERGE Recycling

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Permanent contract

£12.60/hour or £24,570 p.a.

We are seeking a Waste Recycling Collector-Driver to be part of a dynamic team responsible for collecting waste and recycling from businesses across Greater Manchester and Liverpool.

This is a multi-pick up role working across a number of services. Your day could include collecting bagged waste from offices, swapping over 240 litre bins and driving a van collecting a range of materials including potentially wood, equipment or furniture.

As a frontline representative of EMERGE to our customers, good communication skills and a positive and professional approach to customer service is essential.  You must be capable of lifting up to 25kg, and be willing to undertake security vetting due to the confidential nature of the material we collect.

Good geographic knowledge of Greater Manchester, experience in waste management, and a forklift licence are desirable.   A clean driving licence is preferred, and all points must be declared. One year’s driving experience required, ideally in a 3.5 tonne van, and you must be over 21 for insurance purposes.
