If you need to gain qualifications while volunteering to help you gain paid employment, we offer a variety of accredited courses and training opportunities.
Our training courses range from accredited online courses in safe working and customer service, to on-site qualifications in warehousing and storage. On completing your time with us you’ll have both qualifications and a work reference under your belt, as well as a wealth of experience!

Young People’s Project: Give and Gain
If you’re aged 16-35 years old, looking for a job, or in need of work experience to boost your CV, our Young People’s Project: Give and Gain might be just what you need.
Your pre-employment experience will include practical on-the-job experience, one-to-one support and e-learning.
With training available for Warehouse Health and Safety, Food Safety (Level 2) and Customer Services, two days a week for eight weeks, the scheme will equip you with the tools you need to take the next step towards employment. Participation could lead to a career in the food industry, warehousing and customer services.
Touch Wood Training
At Touch Wood you can boost your skills and gain training to help you into the construction and woodwork industries. We start with a Health & Safety induction, then you’ll have on-the-job training to help you gain, share and improve your practical skills.
We can also offer accredited online courses in Safe Working and Customer Service, supported by hands-on training in the Touch Wood workshop.

Recycling Services
We offer a full range of recycling services, all of which can be tailored to your specific requirements. From office waste collection, to WEEE destruction and confidential shredding, we can accommodate your needs.
Touch Wood
Do you need to get rid of waste wood? We offer a competitively-priced collection service and process reclaimed timber for resale to the public. We also practice upcycling; creating expertly-crafted items from reclaimed wood in our specialist workshop, including bespoke pieces of furniture.
FareShare GM
EMERGE runs the Greater Manchester operations of surplus food charity FareShare, which combines sustainability and humanitarian practices by redistributing overstocked donated fresh food to charities and community initiatives across the city region.
